Neopharm was  founded in 1941 under the direction of Dr. Leopold Goldschmidt, a pediatrician by profession, to represent Lederle Labs in Israel. Together with  Zvi Sarel, Dr. Goldschmidt’s son in law, they received the marketing rights for the animal food additive “Aurofac”.
As Aurofac sales grew, Neopharm entered into new strategic representation alliances with additional companies, including the German pharmaceutical company Hermal (now operating under the name Almirall).

 

In 1980, David Fuhrer joined Neopharm to manage its chemical and veterinary departments. He rapidly succeeded in transforming both these departments into leaders in their respective fields. Under Mr. Fuhrer's directive, the company has established an independent distribution system to pharmacies in Israel, thus cementing its position as one of Israel's prominent pharmaceutical wholesalers. 

 

In 2003, we acquired Eldan, which specializes in medical devices and equipment. This acquisition was followed by Neopharm’s purchase of Promedico in 2005. This move enabled Neopharm to offer logistic, distribution and third party logistic services to clients as well as access to pharmacy and a home care unit. In 2008, Genmedix became part of the Neopharm Group after its business was aquired from the multinational company Merck-Serono. Genmedix contributes to Neopharm’s capabilities in supply of non approved pharmaceuticals under special permits as well as generics.
